The company serves as an emission agency that pursues the state policy in the sphere of credit, money turnover, settlements, and foreign exchange relations, as well as regulates overall activities of the banking system. It establishes and implements benchmarks for the monetary and exchange rate policies; provides financial stability and cash management services; issues national currency. The company was formerly known as The National Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan and changed its name to Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan in March 2009. Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan was founded in 1992 and is based in Baku, Azerbaijan.
